FOR SMALL BUSINESSES AND STARTUPS that have taken off and are enjoying the benefits of their profitable ventures, the need to expand is inevitable. This is especially true if there are plans to reach out beyond their respective cities. This may require the abilities of a new individual or team of specialists to ensure further success.
However, some companies are already at full capacity, both physically and financially. As such, these companies have two choices in order to accommodate new hires:
Choice 1: Get More Physical Space
Renting additional space in the office next door, the floor upstairs, or in the building across the street is one of the usual moves companies make to accommodate new employees. However, amid being a sure-fire solution to the lack of space in your current office, this choice may not be the most cost-effective. Besides paying rent and other monthly utility bills, you will also need to procure additional desks, computers, décor, and everything else that makes an office conducive to productive work.
Choice 2: Go Remote
With today's technologies, e.g., cloud tech and teleconferencing applications, growing your company doesn’t necessarily have to be physically apparent. Some companies have expanded to accommodate people who work from home, while others are enjoying the benefits of working with people from across the globe. You won't have to pay for any of the extra space, furniture, and equipment from Choice 1 since remote workers usually already have all they need to provide quality output at a lesser price.
Choice 2 allows you to stick with your current office space, as you enjoy the benefits of having more people working for your brand's success without breaking the bank.
What do you think? Is Choice 1 still one to consider amid the higher fees that it comes with? Feel free to leave a comment below!
